Re: [Fractint] Dosbox SVN Daum and DosBox 0.74
Albrecht
Once again asking for assistance to use it on Win10_64bit.
See: www.dosbox.com/wiki/SVN_Builds DosBox 0.74 works for me under Win10 64-bit. Can change to 1024x768 graphics mode. Using your 58484-w7a PAR as a test case I get a bunch of sqrtl domain error messages, but then the fractal generates. DosBox SVN-lfn using the one compiled with MinGW starts (the one compiled with Visual C did not), did not let me change the Fractint graphics mode to anything above 320x200. The latest version of DosBox SVN Daum lets me change Fractint to 1024x768, but the text screens are messed up. Running 58484-w7a gives the error "FPU stack overflow". See the description in the wiki above, it is listed under Obsolete SVN/CVS builds. Perhaps an earlier version will work. I think that is how that all went. I didn't take good notes. My sticky (and memory) ran out of room. At any rate, the only one that I got to work with 58484-w7a was DosBox 0.74. The Linux version of Fractint (both the old version and the SDL 64-bit version) run 58484-w7a with no problems. The Windows version of SDL Fractint has problems because the compiler has problems with how long double variables are handled. I have tried 4 or 5 different compilers with no success (hence the last executable was non-functional). I want to use similar compilers (gcc) in Linux and Windows to minimize the use of compile time workarounds (#ifdef statements), which make debugging more difficult. Jonathan
Thank you, Jonathan. As all my images are 1280/1024 that´s it. But that does not explain why I get a "nofiles" error on all searches. Too many files ? So Virtual XP is the only Windows alternative left. Maybe it´s still possible to install, Performance is identical or faster then the original XP Dosmode Albrecht Am 28.01.2018 um 17:19 schrieb Jonathan Osuch:
