FOTD 29-03-09 (Poppy Fields of Oz [8.5])
FOTD -- March 29, 2009 (Rating 8.5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's parent fractal is little more than a series of horizon- tal stripes in the Rectangular orientation of the Z^(1.1)+C Julibrot. This parent looks like a scene to be discarded fast, but when stretched and skewed to a great degree, the stripes turn into a poppy field in the land of Oz. It must be OZ; the scene most certainly is not in Kansas (or Pennsylvania). Seeing the fractal poppies blowing in the invisible wind under an azure sky, I named the image "Poppy Fields of Oz". Then I gave it a rating of 8.5, which includes 1/2 point for my color- ing. Such a smooth color palette is quite difficult to achieve with only 256 colors available. The calculation time of 2-1/3 minutes is brief enough to avoid boredom. The image is also available on the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> All good things must come to an end, and so the good weather of Friday came to an end on Saturday as heavy clouds moved in and rain began. At the same time, the temperature of 57F 14C was a bit too chilly for the fractal cats, who spent the afternoon with sour looks on their faces when their anticipated sun failed to appear. A treat of tuna cheered them however. My day was slow -- a welcome change after a busy week. The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take care, walk with confidence, and believe that change is coming. Lovely coloring, with a flow to the landscape that suggests these poppies are growing afloat on the sea. -- David gnome@hawaii.rr.com authenticity, honesty, community
