Sheeesh folks! It was just an impulsive off-the-cuff comment I threw in at the last second. Didn't intend to start a political firestorm here! BTW, I'm the type of person who would have done well in the late 19th century American West, so whatever "wing" that makes me it is. Any comments about the animation? I have zoomed in deeper, there is a nice mini-brot just after E+26, so if I continue on this will classify as a "Universe" viddie! Problem is, I have to up the iteration count to resolve the terminal Brot, and that changes the appearance and colors, so I gotta play with it ... JoTz .

Well, being a fractal fan, I suppose you could call me a self-similar chaotic ... ;-)

Sorry, haven't looked at it yet. Unfortunately, had other things to do that required my time, like computer fixing. BTW, a friend sent me a link to a company that sells Dell hardware that come with FreeDOS (a very good, free, open-source version of DOS). For $75 more, they'll install any of a number of namebrand Linux distros if you want, but for a dedicated DOS Fractint PC, it might be an approach. -- David gnome@hawaii.rr.com authenticity, honesty, community

I think it's neat, once I figured out how to play the stupid WMV file (I don't do Windows here). Xine for Linux did it just fine. Would be nicer if you could provide it in something less proprietary, such as MPG. I liked the way things swirled when you moved sideways on zooms. The soundtrack was a nice addition. The colors were too bright and washed out on my LCD, you might dim them down a bit. -- David gnome@hawaii.rr.com authenticity, honesty, community

Old wing. :-)

Well, I did say it was great. Running full screen and seen from close it just carries you along as if it is a plane ride. It's hard to describe that sort of animation (unless you're a good writer) because it is, for me anyway, an emotional/experiential thing, tapping into the senses of wonder and movement. Mike
