FOTD -- September 05, 2012 (Rating 8-1/2) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image in the Z^(2.003)+C Mandeloid is named "Rectangle Minutiae". I gave it this name because even though it is a Mandelbrot image, it is filled with minute 'Julia' rectangles. The largest rectangles appear as the four symmetrically-placed brilliant white spots in the detail surrounding the central minibrot. A quick in-zoom will reveal their rectangular nature. All the smaller rectangles lie closer to the minibrot. Most of the coloring effect was achieved by rendering the scene with the outside set to 'tdis', which colors the points according to how far they have traveled before escaping. My part in the coloring added only one-half point. The overall rating of 8-1/2 includes my part in tweaking the color palette, which was basically created by the Fractint program. This area of the Z^(2.003)+C Julibrot appears to hold limitless interesting scenes, so I'll stick with it for a few more days before moving on. The calculation time of 4-1/2 minutes borders on slowness, but this is where the web sites do their thing.
