FOTD 11-06-13 (Holes in the Story [A-6,M-6])
FOTD -- June 11, 2013 (Rating A-6,M-6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image is filled with tiny holes -- thousands of them -- and each hole holds an entire fractal universe. Noticing the abundance of universes, I named the image "Holes in the Story". Of course, the name has nothing to do with one of those trendy watered-down 'light' murder mysteries made for the ladies. The large minibrot filling the center of the frame is under- resolved. Raising the maxiter to around 3000 would eliminate this flaw, but it would also change the coloring, which is not all that great to begin. (I am a constant critic of my own frequently flawed work.) The formula behind all the madness is totally whimsical. For no particular reason I combined 11.1 negative parts of Z^(-1.11) with 1.11 negative parts of Z^(-11.1), and then added (1/C) on each iteration. The resulting parent fractal is an oversized thing with a prominent 'fan' with the blade pointing east along the X-axis. Today's scene is located on the southern edge of the fan blade. The artistic and mathematical worth both rate an everyday 6. The image is not great, but those who do not check it will never know what they have missed. Unfortunately, the calculation time of 5-3/4 minutes will drag, even for the most ardent fractal fan. Here is where the time- saving web sites rush to the rescue. For instant serenity. A brief shower in the morning cleared out in time for a partly cloudy afternoon, with a temperature of 77F 25C. The fractal cat gave approval by sleeping through most of it. The humans had an average day of getting the things that needed to be done out of the way. FL spent time admiring her roses, which are giving the best performance in years. The next FOTD will be posted when the time is right. Until the right time arrives, take care, and Big Brother is surely already among us. All we need to do is recognize him?
