FOTD 14-07-04 (Deep Mandelbrot-1 [7])
FOTD -- July 14, 2004 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: With the rush still on here at F.C., I had to find a fractal without delay. For my fractal, I turned to the richest fractal in existence -- the Mandelbrot set -- and ventured far out on the main stem. I checked a filament on the east shore line of a tiny midget on the stem, and found an even tinier midget there. I let the image render on my old fractal computer while I tended to other tasks on another machine. Well beyond the range of conventional math, the image takes well over one hour to render, but the result is unusual enough to make the wait worth the effort. The wait can be avoided entirely by visiting the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> and downloading the completed image from there. The name of the image, "Deep Mandelbrot-1", implies that there may be more such images in the near future. The rating of a 7 is raised to an overall value of a 9 when the render time is considered. Tuesday here at Fractal Central was cloudy and muggy but dry. The dynamic cats found enough time in the yard to keep them happy. Today is starting cloudy and muggier, with thunder- storms forecast. It remains to be seen how the cats will adjust. For me, it looks like another busy day. Until next FOTD, take care, and be alert for lost fractals.
