Re: [Fractint] An Ultimate Par File Collection?
hajotem and Paul, 28MB?! Do you have any idea how many pars that is? That is some pretty diligent collecting I will have to say. I know I've run across lots of par files I haven't bothered to download. To go back and try to find everything now, well, I could do it, if that is the only thing I did on the web for a few months. But if some central collection was formed I'd be able to tell if I had something that wasn't there (improbable). But if others did that it could grow. I was trying to think of a way to organize them similar to Orgform but I don't think there is a simple way. The natural way is by author, but in some cases, such as fractal contests or list contributions, the authors are all different. Perhaps that isn't the way to go, rather it might be considered a data mine. If the program that searched the par files could pull those individual pars out into a list, and then additionally search for candidate formula(s) that match, it could then build the par/formula that could be submitted to Fractint via Pastengo. If the pars came up in a list this way, the author could be listed in a column along with other info. The point is, once it can be searched like that then file organization becomes less of an issue. Unfortunately, the search program I use only goes down to the par file level which I open as text, find the par and then cut and paste into Pastengo. It works to do this but it could be more seemless. Roger -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Version: 7.0.289 / Virus Database: 265.3.1 - Release Date: 11/15/2004
