FOTD 18-05-09 (Gear Train [6.5])
FOTD -- May 18, 2009 (Rating 6.5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's over-magnified image lies in the nascent Seahorse Valley of a parent fractal that is rapidly morphing from the Z^9 Mandeloid to the Z^2 Mandelbrot set. The image actually lies in a little offshore debris. I named the image "Gear Train". One glance will show why. Then I rated it at a mediocre 6-1/2, one-half point of which is due to the coloring. Another glance will show why. Most of the image's effect is a result of rendering it with the outside set to 'tdis' and the inside set to 'fmod', with a proximity of 0.6902. The calculation time of just under 3 minutes will pass in the blink of an eye, or more likely in a couple thousand blinks of an eye. The best way to avoid tired eyelids is to hurry to the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> and gaze in unblinking delight at the finished image posted there. The partly cloudy skies let through just enough sun here at Fractal Central on Sunday to keep the fractal cats happy. The temperature of 61F 16C was a bit chilly for the middle of May, but warmer times are coming. The next FOTD is also coming. It will be posted in its full glory in 24 hours, give or take a few. Until then, take care, and when will we shed some light on dark matter?
