FOTD -- December 19, 2005 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's adventure in the land of 'tdis' came about when I mixed 1.3 parts of Z^(-0.75) with 1.3 negative parts of Z^(0.95) to create a parent fractal that is one of the most distorted Mandelbrot sets I have ever seen. The period-2 bud in this set is actually twice the size of the main bay. Today's scene is located in a string of debris that extends fron the tip of the main stem of this M-set. I named the image "Redder Ranger". I have no idea why I chose such an unlikely name. It just kind of popped into my head. The rating of a 6 seems about right for such an everyday image. The render time is an unusually brief 53 seconds -- less time than it takes some computers to start up.
