Here is a deeper zoom into one of the ovals of this fractal:
Thanks for the nice image - and the antialiasing. I believe that there are 512 gray stripes in the blue ring, and 1024 gold "candelabra fingers" with a gold background, just centerward from the blue ring. Also, the identical counts are repeated on the larger rings -- with the 1024 pattern being the gray "candelabra fingers" with the red background. I don't believe that I've been able to clearly see period doubling taken to 1024 before. Thanks again for the anti-aliasing that made seeing this possible. - Hal Lane ######################## # hallane@earthlink.net ######################## ------- Mike Frazier wrote: ---------------- Author: Mike Frazier Date: 2011-07-16 14:44 -400 To: Fractint and General Fractals Discussion Subject: Re: [Fractint] FOTD 09-07-11 (Wheel of Misfortune [8]) Here is a deeper zoom into one of the ovals of this fractal: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/33642054/image/woma41_1200_5.jpg -- Mike Frazier www.fracton.org
I tried several color maps and this one had huge contrast between the arms and the background over the whole image. The color map is bud2 from Paul Lee's map collection. I used 5 x 5 anti-aliasing. The more contrast in the image, the more anti-aliasing seems to help. -- Mike Frazier www.fracton.org
Hal, The link to July, 2011 seems to have disappeared from your FOTD page. Lee Skinner
