Albrecht Niekamp's "Strange Beauty" 1536705 (2012-12-21)
While Albrecht Niekamp is on vacation and away from a computer, he has asked me to put some of his images onto my server. I did not post a fractal for 2012-12-20. Here is a link to Albrecht's fractal "Strange Beauty" created using his multifractal_10 formula: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/Albrecht/1536705.GIF Click the image in your browser for its full size, 1600 x 1200 pixels, and to prevent its being resampled by your browser. Albrecht's fractal "Strange Beauty" seems somehow 'royally' sinister to me. It has many very sharp, perhaps dangerous, features. Further, the spikes that don't sharpen to a point, but travel to other areas to merge with other features, split into three grasping "arms" that remind me of an actual animal, a type of tapeworm: http://carlzimmer.com/books/imgs/photo_03_big.gif A strangely beautiful fractal, but a very scary fractal! I've previously posted some variations I did on the Strange Beauty fractal. The version of color map used in the following images is a colorful, rather than royal, map -- previously posted by Albrecht: "Here are some zooms into Albrecht's Strange Beauty fractal that uses his Multifractal_10 formula. The fractal has quite a bit of nifty, colorful variety in it. All 640 x 480 non-anti-aliased. They're arranged in increasing zoom depth, with the 2nd and later fractals each a zoom into the previous one: Albrecht's original Strange Beauty fractal: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/STRNGBUT.GIF And zooms into it: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/STRNGBU2.GIF http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/STRNGBU3.GIF http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/STRNGBU4.GIF http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/STRNGBU5.GIF http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/STRNGBU6.GIF http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/STRNGBU7.GIF http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/STRNGBU8.GIF Has numerical loss of precision: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/STRNGBU9.GIF Has extreme numerical loss of precision: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/STRNGB10.GIF The parent fractal: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/STRNGBUP.GIF And a zoom into the parent: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/STRNGB11.GIF " Paul N. Lee also posted renders of some variations on this fractal using par files Albrecht previously posted: "1536704e { ; Inside_View 1536705 { ; Strange_Beauty 1536705d { ; The_Big_Ball You may find a 1024 x 768 image version of the above PARs uploaded to the following: http://www.nahee.com/Stuff/Albrecht_1536704e.GIF http://www.nahee.com/Stuff/Albrecht_1536705.GIF http://www.nahee.com/Stuff/Albrecht_1536705d.GIF " Here's "Strange Beauty's" color map: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/Albrecht/1536705_map.jpg It has the four 'royal' colors in gradual shades from dark to light and back to dark again. This one starts with the color gold. This type of map allows fractals with the correct patterns in them to have smoothly-shaded three- dimensional metallic features. The Fractint parameter set is below.
