Kathy, It seems like you trying to run fractint from windows shell. This usually works, but sometimes (as you see) there can be problems. It is best to run in native DOS. As your system boots up, hit F8 key. This will give you a menu. Choose "command prompt only". This will boot you into Dos 7.0. Run fractint there. When you are done, just type "win" and hit ENTER key and you will be in windows. You should also know how to use DOS, like navigating to directories, using DOS commands, and the EDIT program. If you use fractint a lot (like I do) you can configure your win98se system to boot to DOS every time without need F8 key. I can tell you details how to do this if interested. Too much to spell out all here. And besides editting the Subject line, it would be courteous to remove all the rest of the Digest email as well. P.N.L. ------------------------------------------------- http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/PNL_Fractals.html http://www.Nahee.com/Fractals/
Hi Just to give you some follow-up to my problems running Fractint on Windows 98 with a bunch of new programs- the consultant was able to set it up in a DOS box and it runs well now with the other changes. I was running it in a DOS box before but he made some changes and now it's doing fine- thanks for the suggestions. Kathy Roth
