FOTD -- November 11, 2009 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: The random parameters for today's image show that the parent fractal was created by the 'evolver' feature of Fractint, a good thing to use when the inspiration is lacking, as it was today. This parent fractal is a Mandelbrot set rotated 180 degrees, so that its main spike is facing east. This set is surrounded by a field of debris, which is particularly noticeable extending west- ward in the shape of an arrowhead from the East Valley of the M-set. Today's scene is located near the tip of the southern branch of this arrowhead-shaped field of debris. I named the image "Magenta Lining" when the area surrounding the M-set reminded me of the sun breaking through storm clouds. The rating of a 7 might be a bit liberal considering the routine nature of the image. The calculation time of almost exactly 3-1/2 minutes seems just about what the image is worth.
