How to fix Doug Stewart's "second pond in Jim's FOTD" PAR file
######################################### Doug, it turns out that the name for your fractal: dougs_fotd_03_24_07 in your par file has one more character than Fractint allows. I just dropped an underscore ("_") from the name and the fractal now calculates fine. I also tried raising the maximum iterations to 2.5 million to see if the pond filled in more. It did, but not too much. - Hal Lane ######################### # hallane@earthlink.net <mailto:hallane@earthlink.net> # #########################

Thanks Hal On my machine using the new windows version it loads in and runs OK but the name is displayed as dougs_fotd_03_24_0 So a suggestion for those working on the new version, --- take a look at the name length. Doug PS Jim that last FOTD has a lot of nice areas in it. Thanks

Oh, the par name has a length restriction too and not just filenames. OK, I'll look at eliminating length restrictions on names of pars, formulas, etc. -- "The Direct3D Graphics Pipeline" -- DirectX 9 draft available for download <http://www.xmission.com/~legalize/book/download/index.html> Legalize Adulthood! <http://blogs.xmission.com/legalize/>

That's cause he's using the beta which has long filename support :-). -- "The Direct3D Graphics Pipeline" -- DirectX 9 draft available for download <http://www.xmission.com/~legalize/book/download/index.html> Legalize Adulthood! <http://blogs.xmission.com/legalize/>
