I think "irregular" was a poor word for me to choose. I have
not carefully thought out all of the characteristics of a fractal
that would make it pleasing to me.
-------
I like many features of your image at the link below:

Aspects of the red "thistle" at the right edge are carried
through the rest of the fractal -- both by color and variations
on its radiating spikes. The large dark central areas make a
nice background for the green and red "lacework" hovering
over them.
And the green background area provides a connectedness
to all the figures that appear on it -- the thistle-like figures
and the smaller, curved, dark "blades."

Thanks for your code showing: "...Albrecht Niekamp´s
definition of a complex number."

Thank You, Hal.
;
Nowadays, after all those Fractint years I prefer those
"irregular" seemingly chaotic pictures - really they are
not chaotic at all - which address your feelings more
directly and have a certain athmosphere, like that
ring of fire in image35.
Including one more "irregular" image - for me the best
in this series - with par-file plus the parent view
- only par-file - for own zooms

The Reality of the Impossible
--------------------------------
This refers to the impossibility of the imaginary
part of a complex number that mathematically is defined by a
square root of a negative value.
Fractint uses them all the time and the real
and imaginary parts of the variables are
defined by the user as you know.
This is the mathematical expression for the
imaginary part of a complex number:
i2 = -1
i = √-1.
;
This image uses Albrecht Niekamp´s definition of a complex number.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Instead of an explanation including the program code
performing the task.
The variable "PX" used is any number from 02 to 99
where the first figure [digit -hhl] is used for the calculation
of the real part and the second number [digit -hhl] for
calculation of the imaginary part.
Additionally the function used is choosable if requested
for more complexity.
"FDM" decides if this function (FN4) is altered
---------start code----------------
If (1<px)
d=(trunc(px/10))/9
if (fdm)
da=fn4(px-100*d)
else
da=exp(px-100*d)
endif
d=px/73,37
px=d+sqr(-da)
else
px=p1
endif
