Actually, The above date and fractal name did not originally get used together many years ago on the "Fractal-Art" List.
Though I am sure this was an accidental mistake by Jim, I would hate to see this List end up like a couple of others I know of, where the participants try to alter history whenever they wish. ;-}
Lee is right; history is safe. I made a mistake -- most likely the first of many. The 'Projective Plane' fractal appeared on Jan. 6, 1998. The fractal of 01-01-98 was named "Snub-Nosed Midget", an image that I considered but did not use. Jim M.
BTW, I went to Paul's web site to view the famous January 01, 1998 FOTD, and got msg that the page could not be found. 8-( David gnome@hawaii.rr.com On 7 Oct 03, at 15:29, Jim Muth wrote:

Due to some space limitations, I had to remove the first one and one-half years worth of FOTDs quite some time ago. While making room on another server, I have yet to go back and upload the images and the FOTD web pages for that earlier time period. Though everything is complete from around November 01, 1998 up to the present. As Jim selects various "Classic FOTD" postings during the missing time period, I put those particular ones back online. The problem seems to be with January, 1998's Monthly Index page still showing links for every day, not just the reloaded postings. Thanks, I half-suspected it might be something like that. David gnome@hawaii.rr.com
