FOTD 22-08-09 (Egg-zactly Eastern [6])
FOTD -- August 22, 2009 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: For a discussion about aliens from space, check the philofractal version of this FOTD. As far as fractals go, today's image is quite simple. It simply subtracts Z^7 from Z^8 and adds C. At first glance, the parent fractal resembles the Z^8+C Mandeloid, with some irregularities at its eastern end. A second glance shows the first glance was correct. Today's image lies rather deep in the valley on the positive X-axis, which is basically an east valley, and just about the only part of the parent fractal with true quadratic minibrots. The name "Egg-zactly Eastern" refers to the location of the scene in its parent and hints that calculating fractals is an egg-head activity. The rating of a 6 implies that I consider the image average. The calculation time of 11-3/4 minutes will drag. I recommend viewing the finished image on the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> Morning clouds here at Fractal Central on Friday were followed by a period of moderate rain at midday and a partly cloudy afternoon, which, with a temperature of 81F 27C, was quite pleasant. The fractal cats were happy; I was appropriately busy; the next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and keep looking up. Phlofractal? I thought that this had died, and I have missed it. I tried several times to find it with no success. I signed on and sent a couple of test messages. They were not bounced, but I never saw any signs of activity. How do I get there? John W.

I believe you have to be philosophical about this sort of thing! :-)) John jlewis@clara.net 22/08/2009

Besides using the email link that Jim gave to join: philofractal-subscribe@lists.fractalus.com The online version of Jim's philosophical FOTDs have always been a part of the web pages which are posted, so they can be read there as well. For additional information and commands concerning the PhiloFractal List, send an e-mail to: philofractal-help@lists.fractalus.com Sincerely, P.N.L. ------------------------------------------------- http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/PNL_Fractals.html http://www.Nahee.com/Fractals/
