FOTD 29-05-10 (Two-for-One Sale [7])
FOTD -- May 29, 2010 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image gives us two for the price of one. The upper half is partly evaporated, the lower half is not. The line of demar- cation runs right through the center of the image. The 'inside' parts of the upper half have been colored by ren- dering the image with the inside set to the color 255, which in today's palette is a brilliant blue-green. The lower half is all outside stuff rendered in the usual equal-iteration manner. The imag(p3) parameter controls the location of the edge of evaporation, but its value is quite critical. Change it at your own risk. Most of the image's value lies in its mathematical aspect, though the artistic merit adds to the worth, for a final rating of a 7. The name "Two-for-One Sale" refers to the contrasting images on the two halves of the screen. The parent fractal is little more than an amorphous oversized hole with a filament curling up and around to its west. A rather large minibrot lies on this filament. Today's image lies in the interior of the East Valley of this minibrot. The calculation time of a mere 37 seconds is cheap enough, but the trip to see the finished image on the FOTD web site at: <http://www.Nahee.com/FOTD/> will eliminate all possible calculating problems, such as an over-qualified SOTA computer that can surf the WWW in a few seconds but cannot run a DOS program. Clouds and humidity ruled the weather here at Fractal Central on Friday, with occasional light showers to add variety. The temperature of 77F 25C felt much higher due to the humidity. The fractal cats, apparently unaffected by high humidity, were comfortable. The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and be of noble heart.
