FOTD -- November 04, 2007 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's fractal is an understudy, which comes from the FOTD boneyard. I had to dig there because I spent most of the day in the outdoors. But just because an image was created several months ago does not mean it has no value. In fact, today's 3-month-old evaporated fractal is a rather pleasant scene in the parent fractal that results when 11 parts of Z^(-11.1) are subtracted from Z^(-1.1), and it rates a 6. I named the image "Rusted Blues" because of its downbeat mood, dominated by deep blues and dull rusts. The calculation consumes all of 56 seconds on the fast machine and 5 minutes on the slow one. It was such a fine day that Fractal Lady and I could not resist taking the day off to enjoy the great outdoors. After being left alone all day, the fractal cats were sulky when we returned, but a generous serving of tuna soon restored their good spirits.
