FOTD -- October 07, 2009 (No Rating) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: NEW FORMULA ALERT! Today's formula is a new one. I named it "AllNewDivideBrot". It is a modification of the NewDivideBrot formula, which at a cost of a slight increase in calculation time, eliminates the tendency of the resulting fractals to grow in size beyond all bounds as the second parameter is increased. Before you copy it into a formula file, remove the 'frm:' before the name. The formula still has some problems to be worked out, so there might be an updated version in a few days. The parent fractal is a normal sized Mandelbrot set pictured about 2/3 of the way through the process of morphing into an order-7 Mandeloid. Today's image lies in a backward valley very near the negarive X-axis. The image shows an order-7 minibrot in unusually rich surround- ings. In fact, the surroundings are so grossly overdone that I could not give the image a rating. I think the name "Seventy Times Seven" is a phrase from the Bible, indicating how many times we are to forgive our enemies. Why the phrase came to mind is a mystery, since I am no saint. My patience would run out at about the second offense. The calcuation time of a little under 8 minutes is slower than I would prefer, but relief may be found on the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> where the completed image is posted. Morning sun, afternoon clouds and a temperature of 66F 19C made Tuesday a typical early Autumn day here at Fractal Central.
