Re: [Fractint] F Diode
' ""After an extended search on the internet and considerable testing I'm now able to provide you with a preliminary model and fractint formula for a diode"" Please do - I will check it out. But I am confused. I remember from my electronics days (a long time ago) a diode is a semiconductor crystal which lets current flow one way but not the other, so it converts AC into a pulsing DC current. How does this relate to fractals?? .
In reply to your question , a diode is usually a semiconductor device ; though nowadays it can be made from a few molecules . The physics can become quite involved ; I'd like to be able to model a photodiode . A normal diode is also sensitive to light . The diode is a non-linear device , hence the need to use Newton's iteration formula . Apart from the ideal diode component there is also a complex impedance , that's modeled in a very general way by the diode model I used in the formula file . The Voltage Source , Complex Pixel , partially substitutes for the complex impedance of the diode . Eventually I shall model this more accurately with a junction and diffusion capacitance , The frequency response of the diode , for a particular amplitude voltage , might then be obtained by sampling from a circle , of radius equal to | amplitude | centered around the origin . ----- Original Message ----- From: JackOfTradeZ@comcast.net To: fractint@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Wednesday, July 15, 2009 12:10 AM Subject: Re: [Fractint] F Diode ' ""After an extended search on the internet and considerable testing I'm now able to provide you with a preliminary model and fractint formula for a diode"" Please do - I will check it out. See attachment . Use most default settings for WinFract , except for iterations = 512 , log color map = 1 .
