FOTD -- September 27, 2005 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's discussion is terse, not because I was busy, but because I spent several hours writing a rather lengthy reply to a letter about dreams that was posted recently to the philofractal list. The reply will appear later today on that list. Well, I finally found a midget worth a rating of 7 in the +4321 version of the Z^(sqrt(2))+C fractal. I found it on the long, meandering filament that extends south and east from what passes for a large south bud. It lies in the East Valley of a much larger midget on the filament. True, much of the worth of today's image is due to my coloring effort, but what's wrong with the human element in the world of fractals? Tomorrow, we'll move on to another interesting version of the Z^(sqrt(2))+C fractal to see what goodies we can find there. BTW, it's too bad that the classic Mandelbrot set comes in only one version. I guess this makes it kind of the god of fractals. I gave today's image only a catalog listing. Maybe I'm starting to run out of names. But a worthwhile visual artist really should not need to give names to his works. The works should speak for themselves. (Not in words of course.) In my opinion, the 8-minute render time of today's image is worth the effort. Mostly cloudy skies in the early afternoon turned into light rain by the late afternoon here at Fractal Central on Monday. The high temperature of 82F 28C was not too bad, but the high humidity made things feel muggy, especially for the fractal cats, who cut short their outdoor adventure even before the rain set in. The evening tuna treat eased their troubles. Today is starting breezy, with sun and cooler temperatures. I expect a better day is coming.
