FOTD -- April 13, 2005 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Very deep in Mandelbrot valleys strange new features appear, which I call peanut holes. Today's image shows the Julia set associated with one of these holes. I rated it at a 7 and named it "Julia Peanuts" because that's what it is. I could not name it 'Julia Holes' because the very high maxiter has completely filled in the holes. Unfortunately, that high maxiter makes the image a slow one to render, but relief for the upset patience is waiting on the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> where the image has been posted and is ready for download. Slightly chilly but otherwise ideal weather made the fractal cats happy enough on Tuesday so that they held back the attack when a stray tabby crossed the yard. Today is starting sunny and chilly. The duo might be in as good a mood if the stray returns today. For me the work is moderate and the fractals are nowhere near exhausted. The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.
