Those early fractint versions are way cool to play with - amazing how the program has evolved over the years. I had an idea that they might actually render deep zooms quicker due to simpler code etc., but alas, they do not. I can't even use current sstools.ini or fractint.cfg file, saved pars, etc. or current resolution levels. But it's cool. Thanx for posting them. JoTz

Actually, the evolution was really fast, we went through a lot of versions in the very late 80's and early 90's. It's been slower since, and really slow recently. However I'm working on it again now, after an absence of what might have been a decade when (essentially) the only work was by Jonathan. Tim

To make the point, according to the docs, we were up to version 10 before the end of the eighties, and were up to 17 in early 1992. The integral version numbers are by and large meaningful, communicating one or more significant features. I found Bert on CompuServe in 1988, before CompuServe it was Bert working on his own. Tim Version 17.1, 3/92 Version 17.0, 2/92 Version 16.12, 8/91 Version 16.11, 7/91 Version 16.0, 6/91 Version 15.11, 3/91 Version 15 and 15.1, 12/90 Version 14, 8/90 Version 13.0, 5/90 Version 12.0, 3/90 Version 11.0, 1/90 Version 10.0, 11/89 Version 9.3, 8/89 Version 8.1, 6/89 Version 7.0, 4/89 Version 6.0, 2/89 Version 5.1, 1/89 Version 4.0, 12/88 Version 3.1, 11/88 Version 2.1, 10/23/88 (the "debut" on CIS) Version 2.0, 10/10/88 Version 1.0, 9/88
