I was just now successful in calculating Albrecht's Beauty_Contest fractal in DOS Fractint under WinXP that uses the version of multifractal_10 with the comments stripped out that's available in recent emails by me and Albrecht. I also stripped the comments in the .par section out as well, but I'm not sure whether I needed to do that.
