FOTD -- October 16, 2010 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image is a ghost of its former self. Actually, it's an evaporated scene in the parent fractal that results when various portions of Z^(-1.4) and Z^(-4.1) are mixed and (1/C) is added on each iteration. The color section of the parameter file is so short because the image uses only 43 colors, but those 43 do the work of a full 255. The active inside fill of 'bof60', is a rather unusual one for me to use. The name "Time to Trap a Fly" came about when something in the image reminded me of a Venus Fly-trap plant. The rating of a 7 makes running the parameter file worth the 2 minutes required to finish. The already finished image may be viewed on the FOTD web site at: <http://www.Nahee.com/FOTD/> Friday passed uneventfully here at Fractal Central, with clouds but no rain, and a temperature of 61F 16C. The fractal cats had an equally uneventful day. The next FOTD will be posted in a matter of hours. Until then, take care, and watch out for the fractal ghosts. They can be hauntingly beautiful Jim Muth jamth@mindspring.com START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Time_to_Trap_a_Fly { ; time=0:02:29.62-SF5 on P4-2000 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.frm formulaname=MandAutoCritInZ function=recip passes=1 center-mag=+1.83036955877/-0.09596038543/462548/1/\ 75.5/0 params=4/-1.4/1/-4.1/0/1e+100/0/0 float=y maxiter=1800 inside=bof60 logmap=yes periodicity=6 colors=000zTcxScvRctQcrPcoOclNdjMeiLdhKcgJbeIadH`d\ G_cFZcH`dIbdKddMfdNhePjeRleTnfUpfWrf_tfcuihqlmmnri\ qvetzantdgog`jjXffTbbPYZLSVGMRCHN8BJ000<211>000 } frm:MandAutoCritInZ {; Jim Muth a=real(p1), b=imag(p1), d=real(p2), f=imag(p2), g=1/f, h=1/d, j=1/(f-b), z=(((-a*b*g*h)^j)+(p4)), k=real(p3)+1, esc=imag(p3)+100, c=fn1(pixel): z=k*((a*(z^b))+(d*(z^f)))+c, |z| < esc } END PARAMETER FILE=========================================
