FOTD -- August 24, 2011 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image lies in the parent Mandeloid that results when the expression Z^(2.25)+C is iterated 1.2 turns up the complex logarithmic hyperspiral with the 'recip' function applied. This parent appears as a reasonably complete Mandelbrot set rotated 180 degrees, with 2 East Valleys and 2 fractalized main spikes, each graced with 2 large minibrots. The image is located in a knot on a minor filament extending from the southern large minibrot. The rating of a 6 is held down because I seem to remember a recent FOTD image that closely resembles today's, at least in the coloring. But even if this is true, fractals are still fractals, and today's image must be infinitely different from its earlier relative. The name "Two-Headed Monster" refers to the minibrot at the center of the image, which, even though it is not fully resolved, closely resembles the shape of its parent. The calculation time of 1-1/2 minutes is quite fast by fractal standards. In fact, more time is likely to be spent setting up today's parameter file than in running it.
