FOTD -- August 03, 2006 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: The parent fractal of today's image subtracts 0.1 part of Z^5 from one full part of Z^3, resulting in a small but interesting Mandelbrot set lying just beyond the left border of the opening screen. Today's image lies in the East Valley of this M-set, which is rotated 180 degrees, making East Valley actually a west valley. To add life to the image I rendered it with outside=tdis in effect. The unusually obvious square feature surrounding the central midget inspired the name "A Square Deal". When the time to rate the image arrived, I looked at it and decided it was just unusual enough to rate a slightly-above-average 6. A 6-rated fractal is nothing to get excited about, but the calcu- lation time of just over 1 minute is so short that little effort will have been wasted if the result fails to please.
