Re: [Fractint] PC Magazine article about runninglegacy apps in Windows XP:
I have dosbox running on my laptop under xp (in D-Fend). Everything I use works perfectly, including colour cycling + colour map editing up to 1024x768. I'm don't know how to get 1600 x 1200 on the screen so if you could explain, I'll happily try it out for you (as I want to be able to do it anyway). Cheers. I have not tried any of these. If anyone does try, say, Fractint under DOSBox, (dosbox.sourceforge.net) please let us know how it works out.
DOSBox says it uses the vesa modes and runs under Windows XP. If this can be used so that you can color cycle and use the color map editor for 1600x1200 images under XP, this would be great. I'm still using Windows 98 and won't go to XP until I can do EVERYTHING in XP that I can do under DOS.
