Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's colorful, polka-dotted image is a scene in East Valley 
of the minibrot on the main spike of its parent fractal.

"Wait a minute!", you say.  The parent fractal has no main 
spike!

Look again; look deeper!

The parent fractal is a very distorted Mandeloid rotated 180 
degrees so that its main spike lies on the east side of its main 
bay, which is still in negative territory, while its East Valley 
lies on the west side.

East Valley is obvious enough, but where is the large period-2 
bud with the series of smaller buds and the main spike extending 
beyond it?

Check that hump on the east side of the main bay of the parent 
fractal where the X-axis intersects the shore line.  A tiny bud 
lies there, and this shrunken bud is actually the period 2 bud.

The main spike, shrunk to little more than a hairline, extends 
eastward from this bud, with the large minibrot lying in its 
proper place on this spike, and today's scene nestled cozily in 
the north side of the minibrot's East Valley.

As for today's FOTD image itself, it's one of the liveliest and 
most colorful in FOTD history.  In fact, it's far too colorful 
and much too chaotic for an exceptionally high rating.  With all 
its flaws, I could rate it no higher than a 7.

Actually, I find the parent fractal with its strange breakup 
more interesting than today's image.  It surely holds several 
more FOTD images, which I will likely present in upcoming 
FOTD's.  For convenience, I have included the parameter file of 
today's parent with the file of today's regular image.

The calculation time of 3-3/4 minutes is slow.  But visiting one 
of the FOTD web sites is faster.

Partly cloudy skies, snow flurries, biting winds and a tempera-
ture of 23F -5C made today feel like midwinter here at Fractal 
Central.  The fractal cats knew early in the day that it would 
be a cold one, so they snuggled up to the heat, where they spent 
most of the time.  The humans had another slow but peaceful day.

The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.  Until then, take 
care, and what ever happened to the change we could believe in 
that we heard so much about a few years ago?  And come to think 
of it, what happened to the 'occupy/99' protesters who never 
agreed on what they were protesting for?
