FOTD -- March 18, 2008 (Rating 6.5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image exists in the Z^(1.2)+C Mandeloid as it appears PI levels up the complex logarithmic ladder when no function is applied. The parent fractal at this level isn't much to look at, but it is surrounded on its west side by bits and pieces of cut-off spirals, and the image sits on a node of one of these pieces of a spiral. Actually, the pattern around the tiny minibrot at the center is unusually well organized for a scene in a fractal in this low exponent range, with tiny cut-off pieces of spirals hiding every- where, and the 4-way near-symmetrical arrangement of elements adding just enough interest to raise the rating to a 6.5 The name "Deeply Fractured" describes the broken-up nature of the scene. The calculation time of just over 1 minute will cause no one to lose patience. There could hardly be a better way to end winter than with a Saint Patrick's day of full sun and a temperature of 48F 9C.
