Tony (and other folks) - Your very sophisticated technique might be a bit intimidating for some. Let me offer an alternative. One that I used and works. My Dell P4-2Gig originally came with Win2K which I hated from day one. I wanted my old trusty Win98SE and DOS back for much work including Fractint. It is very difficult to install a lower version of windows/DOS after Win2K or XP is already installed. But it can be done, as with your method, or this: Get "Partition Magick" utility. It only costs about $50. from any computer store. Install it. It is very sophisticated in what it does and can do, and is also very user friendly. You don't have to be a techie-geek. With it, you can alter/change/create/delete/modify partitions on your HD without loss of any data! You can create a partition, load DOS or Win98 on it completely isolated from 2000 or XP, and then use the included boot-loader to set up a multiboot system. At boot-up, you can select any OS you want. You can also install Linux on it's own partition for a Linux/Windows/DOS multiboot - which I did on my old P2-300! I did this succesfully (and very easy) and put Win98SE and DOS622 next to Win2K for a triple boot. This was over a year ago when I was researching fractint and optimizing - I found that the P4 chip sucks for fractint or any DOS app. I have since loaded XP on my P4 system and use my P3-733 (Win98SE) for fractint - which works the best. I hope this can help someone. BTW - I do NOT receive any kickbacks from PowerQuest! :) JoTz
