FOTD 17-05-03 (Four Score and Seven [6])
FOTD -- May 17, 2003 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: I must be brief again today. The fractal lady is getting impatient for us to set out on the 'antiquing' trip that I somehow got myself roped into. I think the destination is New Oxford, PA. Today's FOTD image is named "Four-score and Seven". I chose this title because of the four prominent basins of chaos that surround the almost-invisible midget at the center, and because of the 7 minutes it takes to render. These coincidences reminded me of a famous speech that was delivered around 140 years ago and opens with the words 'Four score and seven...'. The scene is located on the left edge of the fan, in a disconnected area of chaos slightly inland from the actual edge. It is buried quite deeply, and located not too far from a larger midget. The magnitude of the scene is so large in fact that I added the <mathtolerance> entry to the parameter file to be certain that it renders at the correct magnitude. Since I lacked sufficient time to color the image properly, I could rate it no higher than a 6. But 7 minutes is not too long a time to wait for an image rated at a 6. And the completed GIF image is available as always at the FOTD web sites, which can be accessed at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> and at: <http://sdboyd.dyndns.org/~sdboyd/fotd/index.html> It rained heavily all day Friday here at F.C., producing flooding and unhappy cats. The temperature of 54F 12C did nothing to help. This morning is once again cloudy, but it is dry, and it is still wet. The cats' moods are yet to be determined. Somehow, I got myself into another day of studying the old worn- out things that others no longer want. It's time to hit the road, so until next time, take care, and see you in 24 hours.
