FOTD -- August 24, 2005 (Rating 5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image combines various portions of Z^(1.3) and Z^(-1.3), then adds (1/C) to create a fractal much like those seen many times before in the FOTD's, but with subtle differences that make it one-of-a-kind. I named it "The Ringleader" when I noticed the near perfect ring of rust-colored elements circling the midget at the center. The parent fractal consists of a central ocean that resembles a warped figure 8, surrounded by a large area of chaos containing the usual infinity of midgets of all shapes and sizes. Today's scene is located near one of the larger satellite midgets. I entered the mathtolerance into the parameter file by hand to be sure the image renders at the correct magnitude. The rating of a 5 shows that I consider the image to be only of average quality. The render time of 47-1/2 minutes on my old machine shows that the best way to view the image is to download it from the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> Tuesday turned out quite pleasant here at Fractal Central. Under a partly cloudy sky, the temperature rose to 82F 28C. And the humidity remained quite low all day, making it ideal for the aging cats of the fractal variety, who spent several hours lurking in the holly thicket, watching for intruders that never appeared. Only a little tuna was needed in the evening to end their day on an upbeat note. Today is starting sunny and continued ideal. Things again look good for the duo. For me, things look rather busy, but it is nothing that I cannot handle. The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and keep iterating those fractals.
