FOTD -- October 15, 2009 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: By all rights, today's image should show a minibrot of order 0.85. But such a thing is an impossibility, since such a minibrot would have minus 0.15 lobes, which is nonsense. Instead, we have a normal quadratic minibrot at the center of the image, with a curiously symmetrical east fragment of another quadratic minibrot just to its east and a lot of interesting things happening in between. To see this situation clearly however, another in-zoom is needed. I named today's image "Fractal Spiderworks" because the elements surrounding the minibrot remind me of spiderwebs covered with dewdrops. Then I rated it at a 7. The image does have a certain attractiveness about it. The calculation time of only one minute means no one will waste much time calculating an image they find disappointing. And the finished image is posted as always on the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> Wednesday began promisingly here at Fractal Central, with blue skies, sparkling sunshine and a temperature of 43F 6C. But by mid-morning the clouds moved in, leading to a cloudy and chilly day that brought little pleasure to the fractal cats until the tuna appeared late in the afternoon. My day was both thoughtful and productive. And no one was obliged to agree with the thoughtful part. In all likelihood, the next FOTD will be posted at this same place in about 24 hours.
