FOTD -- April 22, 2007 (Rating 8) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Due to another big rush, today's discussion is short. But do not be deceived by the brevity; the actual image is well above FOTD average. Today's image came about when I subtracted 5 parts of (1/Z) from Z^(-4), added (1/C) and iterated with the escape radius set to an impressive 3600. I will not begin to describe the immense spidery parent fractal, which is unlike anything that has gone before. Being pleased with the smoothness of the image's colors, I rated it at an 8. I named it "Iteration Chain", a name that could be applied to all fractals. The calculation time of 9-1/2 minutes is marginally within reason. Even more reasonable is the mere minute or so expended by visiting the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> and viewing the completed GIF image there. It was another perfect day here at Fractal Central on Saturday -- a virtual repeat of Friday. And once again the fractal sabre- tooth cats ignored the weather. They were after big prey -- a catnip mouse. My day was very busy, but the work is nearly accomplished, and by Sunday it will be finished. The next FOTD will appear around that time.
