i don't understand. the way i save is to hit 's' and it saves the .gif to my hardrive. do i then have to restore the file and hit 'b' and that would create a text file?
After rendering an image, you can do both options without having to do anything else. One option saves just the .PAR file so that it can easily be used as a simple (and small) text file, or posted to groups as Jim Muth does regularly. But it requires others to generate the image themselves if they wish to see the graphic, as I do with the FOTD website. The other option saves the .GIF file which just happens to have the parameter information at the tail end of the .GIF image. But this is not the easist way to share parameter information, since some images could be quite large.
