FOTD -- August 21, 2013 (Rating A-8,M-5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image is a scene deep in the debris on the west shoreline of the north branch of Seahorse Valley of the Mandelbrot set. Due to the extra coloring effort, the artistic worth of the image is a lofty 8, but due to the over-familiarity of the Mandelbrot set, the mathematical worth is only a mediocre 5. The name "Mandelbrot Legacy" is a bit of homage to the man who discovered the M-set over 30 years ago. The calculation time of 19 minutes may be cut nearly in half by resetting the passes option to 'g', but doing so will miss the finer bits of detail around the outer edge of the frame.
