FOTD -- May 13, 2004 (Rating 4) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's less-than-exceptional image is an extra one, and that's what I named it. Due to an above-average amount of regular work, I have once again exhausted my cache of FOTD images, making it necessary to go with the first thing I found. Today's FOTD is the first thing I found today. I will probably have to take another short break from the FOTD in the next few days, though exactly when that will be has yet to be determined. Today's image was created by taking just plain Z, mixing 1/4 part of Z^(-0.25) into it, then adding 1/C. The parent fractal is a simple cone-shaped hole with a very narrow band of chaos along its edge. Today's scene is located in the chaos on the northern edge of the cone. The rating of a 4 is justified. The image is nothing that has not been seen a hundred times before. When the render time of 8 minutes is considered, the overall value amounts to 49.
