Todays image [calculated with "kolano" of DOSBOX+FRACTINT] needs almost an hour, 1280/1024, compared to 9 min with XP dos and 3 min with a bootstick [running 'native' DOS running directly on the 'bare' machine.] Thanks for those calculation time comparisons, Albrecht!

Right click: Fractint.exe's 'shortcut' > Properties > Misc tab > Idle sensitivity
I have two Fractint.exe 'shortcuts': One has "Idle sensitivity" set to "Low" to get DOS Fractint to use 100% of the WinXP CPU; The other has "Idle sensitivity" "High" to get DOS Fractint to use ~50% of the WinXP CPU.

Note: The 'shortcuts' I'm referring to above are the ones that are automatically generated the first time that a DOS program is run. I think that these used to be called .PIF files -- Program Information Files(?)
