Can anybody tell me if it's possible to modify the colors of a fractal gif in a graphics program such as Paint Shop Pro, and then recreate the fractal with a new color map?
If it is a FractInt produced fractal .GIF file which is being modified and then saved again within a graphic editor, then most likely all of the special trailer information will be lost. The trailer data is where FractInt stores what formula was used, the various parameter settings, etc... used to create the image. This altered image can be loaded back into FractInt and will be displayable. Even the color cycling will work against the image with the "new" colors. But without the trailer record, you would no longer have the values necessary to recreate the fractal using that modified .GIF file. If you did save the .PAR from this image, it would most likely be saved as a Plasma type.
