FOTD -- March 31, 2012 (Rating 7.5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: There was no FOTD for March 30, but . . . Today's image shows what happens when 0.15 part of (1/Z) is subtracted from Z^2 and straight C is added on each iteration. The parent fractal appears as the outline of a Mandelbrot set, with minibrots where the bays would normally be expected. Today's scene lies far out on the row of debris pieces that marks where the main spike once existed. I named the image "Around the Robin" for some reason that I forgot before I finished typing it. The rating of a 7-1/2 seems about right. I did put a bit of extra effort into the coloring. The calculation time of 30 seconds is an estimated average time on many different machines. The rain ended by noon, but the clouds remained for the rest of the day, with a temperature of a chilly 48F +9C, which kept the fractal cats curled up tightly. The humans took a short afternoon trip to a nearby antique emporium, then did nothing, (which is always a pleasure), for the rest of the day. The next FOTD will probably be posted in 24 hours.
