All my investigations of Jim's FOTX -- June 06, 2016 are (unless otherwise noted): - 5X oversampled (to 27 mega-pixel images) - anti-aliased and slightly sharpened - In his post's text Jim labeled this FOTX: "FOTD -- June 02, 2016 (Rating A-8.5,M-7.5)", whose date my file names match. But these don't match his post's Subject line's date: "FOTX -- June 06, 2016". Full size image viewing is strongly recommended. Jim's FOTD -- June 06, 2016: My 6000 x 4500 version shows signs of the limits of data representation in Richard's Fractint for Windows beta 5 (now called Iterated Dynamics). I'm not sure how different this might be compared to the same image calculated in DOS Fractint, as I don't have the DOS version on this computer. http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/2016/F160602J.jpg Here's the anti-aliased version anyway: The anti-aliasing cleans up most of the jagged edges, but not 100%: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/2016/F160602.jpg The FOTX's "parent" fractal: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/2016/F160602Z.jpg Zoomed a bit to show the main period-2 bud's main bud with its islands: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/2016/F160602Y.jpg A zoom into an arm of a random bud on the main body of the parent: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/2016/F160602X.jpg Electric 7-armed star in "X": http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/2016/F160602W.jpg 3-fold Mandeloid symmetry inside apparent 8-armed circle, guarded by two orange towers: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/2016/F160602V.jpg While looking around for attractive areas in "V", I saw some interesting, star-shaped black fingers. On closer investigation, these turned out to be under-iterated areas. I raised MaxIter in increments, rendering each version, and combined them into an animated GIF of increasing MaxIter: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/2016/F160602Q.gif The four images in "Q" are: "A" MaxIter=1,500 (Jim's original) "B" MaxIter=3,000 "C" MaxIter=4,500 "D" MaxIter=6,000 A zoom out from Jim's FOTD shows 3-fold spirals surrounding 4-fold areas: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/2016/F160602P.jpg For some reason I misread Jim's: "When will the Fractint app be released?", as: "When will Fractint be appeased?" My answer, of course, is: "When ALL the pixels have been calculated." ;-) - Hal Lane ######################## # hallane@earthlink.net ######################## -----Original Message----- From: Fractint [mailto:fractint-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Jim Muth Sent: Thursday, June 2, 2016 1:06 PM To: fractint@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [Fractint] FOTX -- June 06, 2016 FOTD -- June 02, 2016 (Rating A-8.5,M-7.5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: I named today's image "Periodic Wandering". To see why, try to track down the periodicity of the features surrounding the central mininbrot, which is beyond resolution but certainly of a quartic nature. In some areas the cubic series seems to prevail, while in others it could be either the quadratic or quartic. Actually, the parent fractal, at least on the surface, is nothing more impressive than an everyday Mandelbrot set (a fractal that of itself is quite impressive). But today's parent M-set has contracted a Z^(4)+C virus that is working wonders in its depths, and at its impressive (by double precision standards at least) magnitude of over 10^13, today's image is certainly deep enough to feel the infection. The scene is located near a much larger quartic minibrot deep in the trunk of the period-22 elephant on the south shore line of the East Valley of the parent. The prominent banded effect was achieved by rendering the scene with the outside set to 'tdis', plus some of my own semi-skilled coloring. With a calculation time of only 9 minutes on an old 200mhz pentium machine that should have given up many years ago, the parameter file will certainly prove to give a reward well worth the effort of runnung it. The FOTD web site will soon be back in action to make life easier for those whose machines roll over and play dead when faced with the forgotten letters DOS. Life was pretty good here at Fractal Center today. The most excitement was in the afternoon when a tomcat fight erupted in the fractal yard, causing the three fractal cats to dash to the window to watch the action. Luckily for one of the fighting cats, the fight ended after they decided who could curse at the other the loudest. For some reason, I decided to eat breakfast today at the local big-chain fast food outlet. The food was good enough, but while sitting in my booth reading my morning paper, I started to feel like an obsolete old fogy. Looking at the row of booths across the store, I noticed one person in every booth, each one of them pecking at their smart phone. 'What am I doing reading a newspaper?' I wondered. I should be downloading the latest app. But then I wondered what those gadget addicted people would do if the internet were ever to go down. How could they get in touch with their friends who live two blocks away? While pondering such unfathomable mysteries, I guess the time has come to say so-long until the next FOTX appears. Until whenever that might be, take care, and when will the Fractint app be released... ;-) ;-) Jim Muth jimmuth@earthlink.net START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Periodic_Wandering { ; time=0:09:13.76 SF5 at 200MHZ reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.frm formulaname=FinDivBrot-2 function=recip float=y center-mag=+0.2728877196297931/-0.004994932576963\ 96/1.77e+013/1/2.5/0 params=4/500/0/0 maxiter=1500 inside=0 outside=tdis mathtolerance=0.05/1 colors=000dEedEddEdcEdcEccEccEbbEbbEabEaaE`aE`aE_`\ E_`EZ`EZ_EY_EY_EX_EXZEWZEWZEVYEVYEVYEUXEUXETXETWES\ WESWERWERVJQVRQVZPUfPVk_JhzKKK00U0A9000001AU28b36l\ 4Pz5zzzzlAzhCzcFzcHzKJzKLzKPK0SG0VC0YBPZAJ_AE_GJYM\ OWSSUYXScaQiePifSifVigYig`igcfkYcnS`qMYtGVwBjoQciP\ XdPR_OKVOEQN7LN1GN6HOAHPEIQJIRNJSRJTMJPIKJOKDUbN_t\ WbnRehMhbHkXCnR8aVDPZICbN0fRCeMOdIeDzdExdFwdFvdGud\ GtcHscHqcIpcIocJnbJmbKlbKkbLibLhbMgaMfaNeaNdaOcaOa\ `P``P_`QZ`QY`RXaQX`RW`RW`RW`RW`RV_RV_RV_RV_RU_RUZR\ UZSUZSTZSTZSTYSTYSSYSSYSSYSSXSSXSRXTRXTRXTRWTQWTQW\ TQWTQWTPVTPVTPVTPVUOVUOUUOUUOUUOUUNUUNTUNTUNTUMTUM\ TVMSVMSVLSVLSVLSVLRVKRVKRVKRVK`X0WWARVKMUUHTc9PqBQ\ oCRnDSmETlGUkHUjIViJWhLXgMYfNYeOZcP_bR`aSa`Tb_UbZW\ cYXdXYeWZfVfeQdfRcfSbfT`fT_fUZgVXgVWgWVgXTgXShYRhZ\ PhZOh_Nh`9o_Mh`Za`lZTkYVkXXkWZjV`jUbjTdiSfiRhiQjhP\ lhOnhNpgMrgLtgKvgKweMucOt } frm:FinDivBrot-2 { ; Jim Muth z=(0,0), c=pixel, a=-(real(p1)-2), esc=(real(p2)+16), b=imag(p1): z=(b)*(z*z*fn1(z^(a)+b))+c |z| < esc } END PARAMETER FILE========================================= _______________________________________________ Fractint mailing list Fractint@mailman.xmission.com https://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus
