All my investigations of Jim's FOTX -- June 10, 2016 are (unless otherwise noted): - 5X oversampled (to 27 mega-pixel images) - anti-aliased with slight sharpening - Jim's LogMap of -380 set to zero Full size image viewing gives the best results. Jim's FOTX -- June 16, 2016: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/2016/F160616.jpg The FOTX's apparently disoriented "parent" fractal: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/2016/F160616Z.jpg Enlargement of the FOTX's "parent" fractal. Lots going on here, Jim!: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/2016/F160616Y.jpg A zoom into the top of "Y" shows that the main Mandeloid is distorted and surrounded with bubbles and strings.: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/2016/F160616X.jpg - I kept the same unrotated spec as in "Y" above. This area below the distorted Mandeloid seemed to have a lot of odd things going on, although not anything obviously all that interesting: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/2016/F160616W.jpg No "V" image. This odd area in the lower right corner of "Y" caught my attention. It kind of evocative of some undersea creature's internal organs. It seems to have an infection at upper left: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/2016/F160616U.jpg This is a zoom into the upper left corner infection of "U". I originally had this the other side up, but with this orientation I get a strong feeling of the tendrils stretching off into the distance. Also, the eye's ability to assemble adjacent similar-colored stripes into a second overlaid pattern is very powerful: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/2016/F160616T.jpg - MaxIter changed from Jim's 2750 to 9000 to lengthen the tendrils - Hal Lane ######################## # hallane@earthlink.net ######################## -----Original Message----- From: Fractint [mailto:fractint-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Jim Muth Sent: Thursday, June 16, 2016 7:18 PM To: fractint@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [Fractint] FOTX -- June 16, 2016 FOTX -- June 16, 2016 (Rating A-8,M-5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's acceptably good image lies in the parent fractal that results when 2.3 negative parts of Z^(-3.3) are combined with 0.8 negative part of Z^(-8.3) and (1/C) is added on each iteration. This parent fractal is a roughly circular thing with scalloped edges and a prominent minibrot, (or maybe maxibrot, since it's the largest Mandelbrot set shaped thing in the parent fractal), Today's scene is located on the southeast shore line of the main period-2 bud of the large minibrot. The art rates an 8, since I did put some extra work into the coloring. The math is old hat, so it rates only a 5. The calculation time of just under 20 minutes is true on a 15-year-old 200mhz work horse. On any SOTA (state of the art) machine the parameter file will run in only a few minutes. The weather was unpleasant here at FC today, with dampness, low clouds and fog hanging on all day, and a temperature of 68F 20C. Other than wandering in Fractal land, I passed the day finishing a small 90-minute job and wondering why we can't even agree on what to do about the violence. Why don't we try something everyone can agree on? It might not solve any problems, which are probably impossible to solve, but it sure would make us feel better. The next FOTX or FOTD will probably be posted tomorrow. Until then, take care, and doing something meaningless is better than doing nothing . . . I guess.
