FOTD -- October 19, 2009 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: With an unexpected improvement in the weather, an unexpected antiquing trip erupted on Sunday, which was yesterday, and explains the lateness of today's FOTD. The image pictures a simple cubic minibrot with some not-so- typical surroundings. The parent fractal is a Mandelbrot set slightly stretched in the north-south direction on its west side. Today's scene is located in a rather shallow part of East Valley. I named the image "Cubical Quadratic" because it contains elements of both types of fractals. Then I rated it at a 6, which is a fair rating. The calculation time of 3-1/2 minutes is well within reason except for those who simply find nothing of interest in fractals, but those few will not be calculating the image to begin with.
