In fact, you probably should not even be saving PAR files with the Beta version, as the images might not be able to be reproduced when a final version comes out.
The par file itself should be fine, but as you noted there may be differences in the rendered images.
I do know that the images currently produced with the Beta version are not quite like what is produced with the previous DOS version. For a while I was generating Jim's FOTD images with both versions of FractInt to do a comparative testing of the output images. But stopped after a couple of weeks when I saw there were noticeable differences in appearance between the two.
There are probably subtle defects lurking in the integer fractal types that are present. The code that implements these types may be sensitize to 16-bit integers vs. 32-bit integers. It would help me if you could send me PARs for which there are differences. -- "The Direct3D Graphics Pipeline" -- DirectX 9 draft available for download <http://www.xmission.com/~legalize/book/download/index.html> Legalize Adulthood! <http://blogs.xmission.com/legalize/>
