Has anyone tried: http://www.testdrive.hp.com/ ? As far as I can see you can just register for a free account and then you can run applications of your own creation on some monster servers. Xfractint should run on some of these platforms without too much work... ...might get you to E+26 more quickly? Iain.

Vortex Swirling say:
"I'm trying to imagine myself what pattern one might find in the mandelbrot which shouldn't be there or was placed there deliberately. Would it be the discovery of a phone number that when called would play a recording telling you all the knowledge of the universe? But not before requiring you to reverse the charges. ;)"
I have always believed there is something there we haven't found yet, and it isn't supposed to be easy. I have always been intrigued by the part where the main right cardiod joins the first spherical subset; I call it the center of the Mandelbrot but technically it isn't. The region at REAL = -0.75 , IMAG = 0.
I believe if we could see this region with the Mandelbrot expanded to the Magic "Universe" zoom depth of E+26, we will find the Keys to Creation, or maybe The Creator Himself smiling back at us. The reason I think this is because it is so difficult to get there! I have been trying for years. I actually made a zoom animation to about E+12 (it is posted on my site) but then fractint choked and I couldn't go any further. Also, rendering time is horrendously long in this region, at e+12 even 320x240 images take hours.
And fractint has a deep zoom bug with all versions since 1995. I found this out while rendering my "Universe #3" viddie. It just freezes when it encounters a minibrot, but I don't know the exact depth at which it starts. This bug (er, - "software issue") has been carried foreward presumeably because noone zooms that deep and noone reported it. I found by trial and error that the 1995 edition doesn't have it, so maybe that was the problem with my zooms into the Canyon.
I am trying again with a BASIC script that "feels it's way" down the canyon, approaching REAL/IMAG = -0.75/0, and zooming ever deeper, currently I am at e+13. The images look bizzare, a black wall on either side with a e+colored lake in the middle, bounded by ever more complex swirling buds and things that don't look anymore like sea-horses.
This is gonna take awhile ... ... ...
Stay Amazed!
