Beta 4 was fine , as far as I'm concerned, but Beta 5 wont work for me. Each time I try to render a fractal, I end up with a message "Disk Video mode".. regardless of the chosen screen resolution. Now what have I done
incorrectly?
You can't select a GDI video mode from <DEL>?
I can, but it is annoying to generate an image in a GDI mode, save it then ha ve the default when I restore it be the corresponding disk video mode.
OK, but you *know* of course that "restoring an image" from a GIF file and "render a fractal" straight are totally different operations? I see what you're saying now that you mention that you restored the image from a file. Yes, the Disk Video modes are being listed first in that sorted list of video modes when you restore. I'll look into having it put the disk video stuff later in the list.
Which leads me to a very big THANK YOU! to you for your work on getting Fract int into Windows.
I've been mumbling about it since 1999, so its time to get off my ass and make it happen. Currently there doesn't seem to be any new bug reports coming in, except for the spurious buffer overrun error. Beta 6 is likely to be the last beta before a 'final' Windows release. The linux/X11 release will likely have to wait for a while unless someone else works on it because I've got to get back to working on my book before the weather gets too distracting :-). -- "The Direct3D Graphics Pipeline" -- DirectX 9 draft available for download <http://www.xmission.com/~legalize/book/download/index.html> Legalize Adulthood! <http://blogs.xmission.com/legalize/>
