Thanks David. Your instructions worked fine for me. I had a couple of fractals which looked wishy-washy to me. I loaded 'em into Paint Shop Pro and increased the color saturation and the contrast of the images to suit my taste. I then went through the color cycle-plasma-save map route and applied the new maps to the original fractals. Great! I will not be doing this frequently, but it's good to know its possible in that most versatile of all fractal generators... Fractint. However, doing this will remove the GIF89a info fractint needs to reload/redraw your fractal and the result will be a plasma. There is a workaround if you want to do it. Make a copy of the original saved GIF and use the copy as a work copy for the new palette. Then load the work copy back into fractint and color cycle your new plasma.
