Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

The parent fractal of today's image came to life when I mixed 
Z^3 with 1.0085 parts of plain Z then added straight C.  This 
parent is an odd vertical thing with more nooks and crannies 
that the mythological labyrinth.  I'll not attempt to describe 
it, but it is worth at least a brief look.

Today's image lies very near the negative Y-axis, in an area 
being squeezed between two converging open bays.  And as the 
real(p1) parameter shows, it is a rather critical area.

The name "Eyes-a-Popping" refers to the partly-cut-off, eye-like 
spirals around the central minibrot, which itself is on the 
verge of losing resolution.

The rating of a 7 includes a full point for my coloring effort, 
which extended over more than 1/2 hour.

The calculation takes over 9 minutes -- longer than ideal, but 
calculation may be avoided by viewing the finished image on the

A steady chilly rain fell all day Monday here at Fractal Cen-
tral, with the temperature remaining near 50F 10C.  The fractal 
cats were more interested in being fed than watching the rain 
that they never go out in and enjoy.  My day was rather slow, 
which allowed more time for the fractal.  FL spent a good part 
of the day watching Latin novellas on TV, where all they do is 
eavesdrop, wonder who their parents are, fight and then hit the 
sack.  Thank goodness I don't speak Spanish.

The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.  Until then, take
